Creative Colour Director John Spanton
Q: Do you have a favourite failure?
A: I have loads of failures! My usual ‘creative process’ is procrastination and panic. Not getting it right brings out my stubbornness, so failures act to motivate me o get it right the next time, or the next, or the next...!
Q: Which book has influenced your life and work?
A: The book the ‘Tales of the City’ series of books by Armistead Maupin. They changed my self-perception, made me more tolerant and better at being OK with who I am.
Q: What are your biggest challenges you face in creating a show like Salon Live?
A: Being able to present something on stage in a short space of time, without talking too much!
Q: What changes have you made in the last 12 months and how has that improved your work?
A: Possibly just looking outside of hair for new ways of doing what I do. Not just inspiration but the physical tools to do the job too.
Q: What would you like to leave the audience with?
A: Ideas, the opportunity to influence how an audience sees what they do differently is an absolute privilege.
