The Spanish Creative Hairdressing Awards reaffirm their status as a benchmark in our country, with a total of 177 submitted nominations from 81 different firms. International participation has also increased, with 37 collections, and the new category of Spanish Student of the Year has made a grand debut with 28 nominations.

HOB Salons is celebrating 40 years in business – and International Creative Director Akin Konizi has become one of the most respected hairdressers around the world, picking up a myriad of awards, including British Hairdresser of the Year four times.

So what makes a good hairdresser? “The soft skills are just as important as the hair skills,” Akin says. “One of the main roles of a hairstylist is to interact with clients and build relationships, this, along with offering a great haircut or colour, is what creates a loyal client base. How you greet a client, how you chat to them throughout the appointment and how you show empathy and understanding of not just their hair needs, but their personal needs are all vital to creating that invaluable client/stylist relationship.”

Alba Andreu, member of Salones CV by Carlos Valiente Team (Valencia, Spain), tells us about her experience at the Figaro Awards 2022, where she won the Newcomer Hairdresser of the Year Award.

"Little Hair Stories'' is a series of humorous videos that pay tribute to the hairdressing industry and the salon clients – a video project that has also been recognized at the Hairbrained Video Awards in New York.

From March 7 to June 12, all Spanish professionals or professionals residing in Spain over 16 years of age and also those non-resident professionals in Spain who want to compete in the International category can present their photographic collections to participate in the 14th edition of the Fígaro Awards.

The HOB Creative Team have been named winners of the AIPP Best Commercial Collection of the Year.
